will have to wait and watch. so far list of exempted items is not declared. also some commodities may be exempted by way of notification once the GST is rolled out.

If an item is specifically exempted under any State VAT Act,
items supplied under midday meal scheme is specifically exempted ( Schedule - 1 item ) under UP VAT act. we have given a request to Commissioner GST( central and state ) and a recommendation is sent from other states also to center.
Now my question since it is exempted by a State VAT A/c., will it be exempted under GST also. or what is to be done to include in exempted list of GST
